“There was no question of being out of the closet... because you would invite the police to arrest you.”

— Ian McKellen

The short.

B Good Picture Company was commissioned to create a short film for Tate Britain's major exhibition 'Queer British Art'

Director Joe Stephenson turned to his two leading men - Scott Chambers, star of CHICKEN, and Ian McKellen to create a piece of work that was ultimately released online to promote the exhibition itself.

The film features Chambers as a pained, young McKellen, while the acclaimed actor recounts his memories in voiceover of what it was like growing up in an era when there was little possibility of coming out as a young gay man. Watch the film below!

“Powerful, raw, unfiltered and unashamedly honest”
